VENDING MACHINE/REGAINS
Okay, so what's this thing? ↴
When do we get coins? ↴
What's in it for me? ↴
What's this about renewable items? ↴
I got an item that isn't mine - what do I do with it? ↴
Can we stack coins to help our odds? ↴
Do our coins expire? ↴
Can we use our coins to opt out of death rolls? ↴
...You know, appearance-wise that is an astoundingly good question. It's very definitely a vending machine, but it looks more like a giant crystal ball than anything. But you know what, that crystal ball is also filled with gacha capsules, and perhaps most importantly, it's here to give you stuff! ICly, characters will be rewarded for bonding with one another; these rewards come in the form of coins left in their room, somewhere that they'll be easily found. After that, it's just a matter of going over to the...that, sticking coins in and letting prizes fall out. Simple!
When do we get coins? ↴
Coins are awarded for every 20-comment thread (10 comments per person) submitted here. Any threads between two player characters that do not take place during investigations, trials and motive announcements are eligible for a coin. Threads with mod NPCs such as the Wordsmith are eligible for coins as well, but the one caveat to this is that private conversations and letters do not count – the thread must take place in public.
What's in it for me? ↴
Glad you asked! We asked all of you to put five regains down on your app; this is where you have the chance to get them back. Of course, since nothing can ever be easy for anyone, RNG gets to decide how quickly that happens...
Furthermore, there's also a chance that the regain you get back won't necessarily be yours. That's also a distinct possibility that we won't deny. Good thing you're on such good terms with everyone here, right?
The percentages shake down something like this: You have a 10% chance of getting a regain – either yours or someone else's, every time you roll. There's an 80% chance you'll get something random. As for the remaining 10%...well. You'll have to roll and see what that remaining percentage might contain, won't you?

What's this about renewable items? ↴
One out of your five items can be renewable – that is, they have the potential to fall out of the machine more than one time. They can be consumable things like food, candy, liquor or cigarettes; they can also be things like yarn, socks, underwear, stuffed toys, whatever you like!
I got an item that isn't mine - what do I do with it? ↴
Whatever your character would do with it! Give it back, eat it, set it on fire, whatever you want. You might want to work it out with whomever it belongs to, but...really, it's your choice.
Can we stack coins to help our odds? ↴
Unfortunately, no. I mean, if you have a surplus of them and you want to shove them in the machine all willy-nilly then no one's going to stop you, but it's not going to increase your chances of getting a regain. But maybe you'll be rewarded for jamming in twenty at once, who knows! ...Or maybe you'll just screw up the machine. You'll never know until you try, right?
Do our coins expire? ↴
You can redeem your coins whenever you want; in other words, the threads you submit don't have to all be from the current week!
Can we use our coins to opt out of death rolls? ↴
That, my friends, would be bribery, and it's highly frowned upon by the Wordsmith. If you can't be present for a given week that you've been selected to die, you can ask the mods to reschedule, but there are no true opt-outs or safety nets of that sort.
i still haven't ICly collected like two rolls but i thirst
2. With Estelle
3. With Sportacus
4. With Silver
5. With Watanuki
6. With Killia
7. With Gold
8. With Phi
9. With Orihime and Watanuki
10. With Kimbley
Congratu...lations?
1 - 089. Throwing Knives
A gift from the Wordsmith. A small set of knives weighted for ease of throwing, and designed for the sake of aerodynamics.
2 - 015. Tumbleweed
A pile of grass often seen in Western films. If this stuff starts to pile up against the door to your house, toss it down a hill in the backyard.
3 - 066. Millennium Prize Problems
Seven mathematics problems issued by the Clay Mathematics Institute in America. The prize money for solving even one of them is a million dollars.
4 - 043. Marvellous Prince
Ready-to-eat children’s curry. A curry that uses an abundance of expensive ingredients that you wouldn’t expect of a children’s food.
5 - Pipe
You’d probably look pretty cool smoking this. Too bad there’s nothing to go in it.
6 - Soaked Cotton
A wadded up bunch of cotton, soaked in water. It doesn’t look like a natural cotton ball, but rather like someone tore a bunch of cotton out of something and rolled it into one. It’s still wet.
7 - 068. Blueberry Solid Gold
A popular brand of bracelet, made from pure gold. A product from a long-standing store loved by both men and women. Its brightness and sense of quality will get you 10% more attention.
8 - 024. Nib Pen
A pen that draws lines when you soak the tip in ink. You can draw various types of lines depending on the technique used, so it’s used for drawing comics and illustrations often.
9 - 010. Non-Alcoholic Wine
A soft drink with almost no alcohol in it. It tastes more like sour grape juice than wine.
10 - 027. State Alchemist Pocketwatch
A gift from Kimbley. This is a mark of your ranking as a State Alchemist... or it would be, if you knew anything about blowing things up.
You've also received some extra items from the machine:
Set of Matchbooks
A set of five small black matchbooks, the sort of thing that you'd expect to find in a bar. The name of the establishment is stamped into the front; looks like it came from somewhere called The Devil's Nest.
Cuestick
Surprisingly, it’s somehow retractable.
080. Frozen Cinnabar Volcano Burgers (x3)
A gift from Gold. Gold's favorite food, they taste just like mom's home cooking despite... being frozen. They're basically hamburger steaks, but much hotter than any sane hamburger steak really should be.
